Route 2019

Rocky Mountain BIKE Marathon

The Bikepark Marathon

In 2019 the Rocky Mountain BIKE Marathon Saalfelden Leogang surprises with a completely new track. There will be much more play possibilities, due to the new construction of many trails in the Bikepark Leogang this summer and the route planners have used them. This year the marathon consists of three consecutive rounds in the Bikepark and in its immediate vicinity. The short course consists of round 1, the middle course of round 1 + 2, the long course of 1 + 2 + 3, that's how easy it is this year. With the completely new “Steinberg Line”, which leads from the Asitz mountain station with decent flow to the valley, a completely new highlight has been integrated into the course. Also, the Hangman II, already part of the route in 2018, provides a lot of riding fun. You can experience a beautiful landscape in the quiet “Schwarzleotal” or with a panoramic view of the “Leoganger Steinberge” from the Asitz summit. The route is more compact than 2018. Once back down from the mountain, it goes straight back up again. But that's exactly what mountain biking is all about.

Round 1

The first loop offers a load of mountain biking and shows everything the area has to offer within a few kilometres. From the Asitz valley station the route leads first to the “Forsthofalm” and then to a bike park crossing to the first long ascent. Via the “Pirzbichl” and the “Schwarzbachtal”, the route climbs steeply up to the Asitz mountain station, from where a panorama loop turns over the Asitz summit. There is an amazing panorama trail on top. The crowning finish follows when you have reached the Asitz mountain station again. From there onwards the route is on the brand-new Steinberg line, down to the valley and back to the festival area at the Asitz valley station.

Round 2

Round 2 starts in the “Schwarzleotal”, where the path leads past the “Schaubergwerk”, first tame and later a little steeper up to the end of the valley at the foot of the “Spielberghorn”. Almost a U-turn follows, to get back up and down on forest paths towards the bike park, which is crossed just above the middle station. The spice of this round is in the upper part of the “Matzalm Trail”, which has a few tricky spots, before it leads on down on a forest path through the “Schwarzbachtal” to “Pirzbichl”. From there it is still a few metres on varied paths off the road back to the festival grounds.

Round 3

As on round 1 the route goes up again to the “Forsthofalm”. But now you stay in the ascent and climb up a gravel path, right in the middle of the freeride trails to the middle station. Just a wave away from the freeriders on the downhill course, which shoot past you. The “Hangman II”, one of the most flowing trails in the bike park, begins at the middle station. This leads back down into the valley. From its end, if you pedal properly, you reach your destination in one to two minutes.
